When it comes to technology, performance is not necessarily the thing that is sacrificed when the price is low. It could be also something that many people may consider unimportant like design or connectivity options. The tablet I am going to show you today is great for multimedia and performs excellent for less than 150 euro. This is Asus Memopad HD 7.
The price is kept low because this tablet is offered as a Wi-Fi version only
The price is kept low because this tablet is offered as a Wi-Fi version only. But of course we don’t have any doubts that it has its own place at the market of Android tablets.
At first we felt a bit skeptical about this one judging by the low price and the cheap build. In fact there is nothing impressive about the last one. The plastic body is glossy all over but its comfortable screen size causes no trouble holding it with one hand. The plastic material is the reason this machine weighs only 302g.
The 7-inch LCD diagonal offers IPS technology which feels great to use in any light conditions
It is very comfortable to use as an E-reader. The lack of a rubberized finish on the back is compensated by the variety of vibrant colors on the back. The Memopad HD 7 comes in black, white, pink, green or gray backpanel.
We were happy with the screen Asus put on this one. The 7-inch LCD diagonal offers IPS technology which feels great to use in any light conditions. It also results in wider viewing angles. Pixel density is great at 216ppi. The only trouble you may experience is caused by the glossy finish on the display which is quite reflective. As you have already figured by the name, the resolution is HD – 1280×800 pixels. Colors and contrast are a bit washed-out but still a great deal for the money. The capacitive touchscreen offers 10-point multitouch support, which will be very much welcomed by gamers.
This compact tablet is powered by a quad-core MT8125 CPU at 1.2GHz frequency.

We were shocked by the excellent performance of this quad-core chip. It didn’t hesitate even for a second to open multiple browse windows. It is backed up by 1GB of system memory. FullHD videos on YouTube also loaded instantly. The fast processor and the Power VR graphics handle well most games, even 3D ones.
Asus MemoPad HD7 is available in 8GB and 16GB versions. The interface offers a micro SD card that supports up to 32GB cards. Connections are also established via a micro USB port.
For such a low price don’t expect much from the cameras on the Asus MemoPad HD7. In fact we were even surprised it has the whole package of cameras. There is a 5MP base camera on the back. It records video in 720p. The image and video quality is very far from excellent but there is enough detail of course if you don’t mind the noise. But if you are not aiming for a good camera tablet then you will be good to go with this one mainly for video calls.

Usually affordable devices sound really terrible. Well, this one here is a sort of exception. The speakers are placed on the back side and use a metallic construction so that a better resonance is achieved. SonicMaster audio technology on its part makes the sound clear and powerful, so you can easily use this tablet as a portable music station.
Battery life is not exactly impressive but you can still browse on Wi-Fi for a considerable amount of time – around 9 hours. The Asus MemoPad HD 7 comes loaded with Android Jelly Bean 4.2
