Ultrabooks in some way could be defined as the desktop PC alternative but in the notebook world. They are solid, powerful, suitable for professional applications and more importantly easy to carry around. This is the reason why Asus frequently add new members to their ultrabook family. In this video review we will share our impressions of VivoBook S400CA.

Its performance at maximum turbo frequency hits 3GHz

As you can see it is a well-built solid machine with a metal body. The lid is covered by a brushed hairline texture for achieving a more elegant look. The two-color play here reminds us very much of a macbook design.
When you add a touchscreen to the 14-inch screen diagonal of this machine and then add the relatively affordable price of around $700 you are left with the impression of a great bargain.

The screen offers high brightness levels and sharp detailed picture. However the absence of the IPS technology is tangible which results in the narrow viewing angles as well. The LED backlit glare panel delivers an average resolution of 1366×768 pixels.
The internal storage here is of a hybrid type. You can load the VivoBook S400 with 320 or 500GB accompanied by 24GB of SSD cache. The system memory on board can be either 2 or 4GB DDR3. Now its time to move onto the core hardware component – the central processing unit.
You have the liberty to load this machine with Intel Celeron, Pentium or Intel Corei3, i5 or i7. Our test machine came with the dual-core Corei7 3517U.

The video call web camera has HD quality

Its performance at maximum turbo frequency hits 3GHz. The main chipset is Intel Chief River. The GPU unit on this VivoBook is an integrated Intel HD graphics 4000.
The island-style keyboard in combination with the huge button touchpad are easy to navigate. However, to those who like to take full advantage of Windows 8’s interface the touchscreen comes to help.
The interface of the ultrabook is a standard one. We mark the presence of a VGA port, 1 USB 3 port and 2 more USB 2 ports. There is an HDMI output as well. The video call web camera has HD quality. Sonic Master with Waves MaxxAudio 3 technology takes care of the sound experience here.
On board power supply is provided by a 44Whs polymer battery. The weight of the whole package is configuration-dependent but the machine comes at the average weight of 1.8kg.
