One of the highlights at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona was decorating Samsung’s stand. The brand chose the world mobile event to introduce its new phablet Galaxy Note 8.

The S-Pen stylus can be used even to navigate the touch sensitive keys

The 8-inch tablet by Samsung is said to come out as serious competition to the recently announced iPad mini. The major difference is Note 8’s phone capability. Not only can you make phone calls directly from the handset but you can also continue multitasking at the same time.
Segment-wise it stands between Galaxy Note 2 and the Note 10.1 tablet. A distinctive feature on the Note 8 is the presence of S-Pen stylus that could be used even to navigate the touch sensitive keys. The important thing to point out is that this phablet lacks the typical for Samsung AMOLED screen. The display here is of TFT type.

The screen resolution of the 8-inch display is 1280×800 at 189ppi pixel density.
The device runs on a quad-core processor, clocked at 1.6GHz. The performance is further enhanced by the 2GB of system memory. When it comes to on-board storage you have two options either 16GB or 32GB. However a micro SD card slot is available to deliver more space.
Multitasking on the Note 8 is more powerful, running simultaneously a few applications and pages.

The hybrid offers a special reader-friendly more which turns the device into an E-reader

The dual-window view is executed under Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean which is in charge of the software user experience here. The hybrid offers a special reader-friendly more which turns the device into an E-reader. What’s important to point out here is that the brightness and contrast are automatically changed to deliver a friendly to the eye experience.
The IR blaster on board turns the Note 8 into an universal remote control for all entertainment devices around the place. The Note 8 is a well-built device.

On the back panel of the case we find a 5MP camera

The plastic chassis features the well-known rounded design with soft edges highlighted by a metal bezel. The weight of the 3G model is 338g coming at only 8mm of thickness.
On the back panel of the case we find a 5MP camera which is centrally positioned thus preventing accidental covering of the camera. The front optics offer 1.3MP.
The power capacity on board is delivered by the 4600mAh Battery unit.
