Following the trends nowadays each smartphone flagman is sooner or later followed by its smaller version. Digital Magnet reveals the Mini version of one of the most successful smartphones this year. This is HTC One Mini.
Again the chassis here is aluminum, which means it is durable
At first sight the Mini looks like an exact same copy of the HTC One, which is really great because personally I think that it is one of the best-looking phones for 2013. The design is simple and the lines – clean. Again the chassis here is aluminum, it means it’s durable and last but not least it is very comfortable to hold and use with one hand. It is actually optimized for being used with one hand as it is only 2.5 inches wide which is much narrower than the flagman and 0.3 inches thick. Although One Mini’s unibody design feels solid and well-build it weighs only122g. Along the top and bottom run the two grills which cover the two powerful Boom Sound speakers combined with Beats Audio technology. Although it´s a small handset, the sound that comes out is clear, deep and powerful. It´s really one of the best sounds we have heard from a smartphone.

The display still looks wonderful although it’s a step down from the FullHD in One to a 720p 4.3-inch Super LCD2 panel. But of course it’s smaller in size which means it is just as sharp and crisp as in One. As you can see the blacks are really strong and deep. The pixel density is also excellent – 342ppi. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 layer.
We should probably take a few seconds to talk about software as the One mini comes with Jelly Bean’s 4.2.2 platform but the user experience is also optimized thank to HTC’s brand new Sense UI interface or in other words HTC’s own interpretation of Android.

It was first introduced with the One flagship in combination with HTC BlinkFeed customizable homescreen where you can set up all you need to see right on your homescreen. It gives the phone a pretty unique spirit and appearance.
HTC One Mini runs on a dual-core 1.4GHz Snapdragon S400. For the video performance the processor is assisted by Adreno 305 graphics card. It responds immediately to software commands and loads full-sized web pages in no time. High-resolution videos from YouTube load quickly and run smooth. In other words its hardware makes One Mini a fast and powerful performer. However 1GB of RAM might be insufficient for the most demanding games and applications.
Internal storage reaches 16GB and there is no option to expand that memory.

One of the most distinctive features of the HTC One and its Mini brother is the Zoe camera. It’s a 4Ultrapixel base camera. 4 might sound like a ridiculous amount of pixels on a smartphone camera but one ultrapixel here is much bigger than a regular pixel on a normal camera. In result it is much more sensitive to light. What’s more interesting is the special camera software called ZOE. It can do many things like capturing 3-second videos instead of just ine single photo. Then users are able to pick out the best frame from the video and save it. With ZOE you can also make short movies with your photos and videos.

For more information check out our special detailed review of HTC One camera. Here it’s pretty much the same except for the fact you don’t have image stabilization. It results in burrs especially in video mode which otherwise is great taking 1080p videos, also in HDR. The front camera is a 1.6MP one.
HTC One Mini comes in three colors – glacial silver, stealth black and blue. The lighter version of HTC One is not a major step down in terms of software and hardware. It’s for the people who are fond of everything about HTC One but its size.
