Finally a Lumia member to break the design stereotype Nokia has created with its Windows Phone 8 devices. What’s more the elegant appearance is backed up by solid performance, great camera and long battery life. In this video review you will get to know Nokia Lumia 925.

The aluminum material used for the frame here is a first on a Lumia handset

Design is what makes the latest Lumia flagship stand out. The aluminum material used for the frame here is a first on a Lumia handset. It gives this unibody design an overall feel of premium build quality. The rest, meaning the back panel, is again made of matte plastic. The handset has a sleek no-gap design. Lumia 925 is much thinner than the rest family members – only 0.33mm, which is just great because I have often found myself struggling with the thick Lumia bars. As a person with small hands I can say that this handset happened to be extra wide for my grip. It is exactly 2.8 inches wide and I had difficulties reaching the side keys. The absence of a back curve to suit the palm also contributes to the awkward handling. To wrap things up for the design part we should also add the weight of 0.3 pounds, which is less than its predecessor.

Nokia’s latest flagship is a lot like its predecessor – the 920

Other than that Nokia’s latest flagship is a lot like its predecessor – the 920. The display again has 4.5-inch diagonal offering 1280×768 pixel resolution. The pixel density remains the same 332 pixels per inch. Nokia has changed only technology from IPS LCD on the 920 to an AMOLED panel on this one. The display looks terrific, thanks to the Clear Balck filter which additionally boosts the depth of the black tone and at the same time makes the screen glare resistant, reducing the light reflections. Colors also pop out thanks to the good contrast and sharp detail. The capacitive touchscreen is very sensitive and responds to gestures made with fingernails or gloves. The screen panel has Gorilla 2 Glass protection on top.

Performance on the 925 remains unchanged or in other words – swift and smooth, ready to compete with its quad-core competitors. The performance is dedicated to a Qualcomm MSM 8960 Snapdragon Chipset. The dual-core CPU works at the frequency of 1.5GHz, backed by 1GB of system memory. The video performance is supported by Adreno 225 graphics card. No surprises here, everything loads quickly and runs smoothly. Of course, working with the fast 4G LTE network the smartphone becomes very productive. Heavy multitasking also didn’t make the smartphone struggle or lag.
Now, the culmination of the review is dedicated to 925’s strongest suit, which is its camera.

The great 8.7MP sensor inside comes in combination with the wonderful and bright Carl Zeiss f/2 lens, placed centrally on the back panel. The direct camera key on the right edge launches the camera application even from a locked screen mode.
For better performance Nokia has added a sixth element inside this lens. This camera takes awesome low-light images with minimum noise. We tested the camera in different light conditions and the images came out sharp and well-exposed, just maybe a little oversaturated in terms of colors. But still few flagships can compete with this camera’s excellent performance in more challenging conditions. The optical image stabilization makes the 1080p videos even better, reducing the effects of handshake during shooting. The secondary camera is the front one it delivers 1.3MP quality. Nokia Smart Cam offers a range of interesting after effects, action shot, motion focus and the really handy object eraser.

Internal storage on Lumia flagship varies from 16GB up to 32GB with no option to expand that capacity as the smartphone doesn’t provide a memory card slot. 2000mAh Li-Ion battery piece inside is the same one we had in the Lumia 920, but now it’s much more power-efficient, providing juice for around 13hours.
Unlike its vibrant-colored brothers Lumia 925 comes in the three reserved hues: black, white and gray.
