With the introduction of the Tab 3 line of devices Samsung added 3 brand new mobile gadgets to its phablet & tablet family. We already showed you the 7-inch device so today we are going to move onto the biggest one – this is Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1.
The back panel is flat and covered in a texture very much resembling the one of the Galaxy S 4
This device is the successor of the Tab 2 10.1, which was a pretty successful and well-selling tablet device. But let’s find out how exactly it has changed inside and outside.
The new design of Samsung’s 10-inch tablet is much more compact and elegant. The curvy edges of the Tab 2 have been left behind. The back panel is flat and covered in a texture very much resembling the one of the Galaxy S 4 smartphone flagship.
The 10-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen display panel on the front side delivers 1280×800 pixel resolution
The tablet’s profile has been reduced down to 0.31 inches. Unfortunately the plastic glossy case makes an impression for a lower-end device. At least the surface on the back panel is not slippery and provides a quite comfortable grip even when holding it with one hand. The periphery is highlighted by a silver lining.
The 10-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen display panel on the front side delivers 1280×800 pixel resolution. It results in a pixel density of 149 ppi which can be defined as average for a 10-inch mid-range device. The tablet delivers a pretty good visual performance, the colors and contrast create a pretty good picture. Watching movies is one of the main things I use my tablet for and I really enjoy wide viewing angles like this one here because it’s much easier to assume a comfortable viewing position without having to master yoga. The video performance here is delivered by Power VR SGX544MP2 graphics processing unit.
As far as performance is concerned the Intel Atom Z2560 works at 1.6GHz frequency
As far as performance is concerned the Intel Atom Z2560 works at 1.6GHz frequency and its work is backed up by 1GB of system memory. Loaded with quite a few browse windows, it didn’t cause any trouble quickly loading all the contents even on full web pages and high-definition video. Customers have two options for the actual user-available memory – it can be 16GB or 32GB. But adding a micro SD card can increase that storage with 64GB more.
Just below the display on both sides of the home button the two capacitive touch keys are placed. Another improvement that concerns the performance is the increased area of sensitivity around the capacitive buttons. They respond to touch even an inch away from the actual icon. However more often than it results in accidental pressing.

Actually here we can find one of the features which the Galaxy S4 smartphone introduced. This is Smart Stay – it puts the tablet to sleep when it detects you are actually not looking at the screen at the moment. This software feature considerably improves battery life. The 10-inch tab 3 has a built-in IR blaster so that you can use it as a universal remote for most entertainment devices at home. Cameras are definitely not this device’s strong suit so we will just quickly mention that the base one offers 3.2MP quality and the video call lens – 1.3MP.
The Li-Po 6800mAh battery piece on board provides enough charge for around 10 hours of browsing and video playback.
