Photography is not only a way of saving precious moments, it’s a hobby, it’s art, it’s a lifestyle, it’s a way of seeing things differently. It doesn’t matter if you are a professional photographer or an amateur like myself you will agree that the best camera is the one that is always with you. In today’s review I am going to show you a camera that fits perfectly in this description.

Its ability to shoot in RAW formats gives you the great flexibility professional cameras offer.

Now you are closer to having a professional camera in your pocket than ever. Sony RX100 offers you most of what a DSLR camera provides for you. Its ability to shoot in RAW formats gives you the great flexibility professional cameras offer. But this is just the beginning- it’s a camera that definitely has a lot to surprise you with.

A macro shot taken at noontime at f/1.8; exposure time 1/200; 125 ISO speed. The focal length is 10mm. The pretty intense background blurring creates a considerable depth of field.

A street shot taken in cloudy weather conditions at f/5.6; exposure time 1/640 sec; 800 ISO speed. The colors are vivid and the image is well-exposed.

This image was taken at night at f/1.8 at 1000 ISO speed – there is minimum noise despite the high ISO. The exposure time was 1/30 sec.
The Sony Cybershot RX100 features a massive 1’’Exmor™ CMOS sensor and 20.9 million pixels that provide a crisp and detailed image. In low-light conditions this pocket-size camera performs pretty well thanks to its supreme ISO sensitivity and a bright F1.8 Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar lens. All of this guarantees clear images with minimum noise. In such conditions you are also equipped with a pop-up flash that has a few light modes. During the test period the camera offered clear and vivid colors. Actually you can make sure for yourself from the test pictures just below the video.

Maybe one of the most important things for a camera is its ability to focus fast and correctly, well, you wouldn’t have to worry with this one, the focusing is super fast and offers a few focusing modes – single shot (AF-S) and continuous (AF-C) focusing. Manual focusing is available as well. The focal distance varies from approximately 55cm to infinity.
For its compact dimensions of 101x58x35mm and its aluminum body that weighs about 240gr, Sony RX100 offers an exceptionally wide range of shooting opportunities: among them are Program, Apreture priority, Shutter priority and intelligent Auto modes. To that we can also add auto HDR mode, face detection, and a sweep panorama mode that allows you to easily make wonderful and clean panoramas just with a single move. And to completely meet your photographic needs Sony Cybershot RX100 also records full HD 1080p videos at 50fps.
To sum up, you can pretty much rely completely on this pocket-size high-performance camera in every situation.
