HP announced on the first day of the event (25.02.13) that it will sell its webOS operating system to LG electronics. The South Korean electronics company shared its plans to integrate the operating system particularly into its line of smart TVs. The exhibition highlight at HP’s booth was their new pocket friendly 7-inch tabled called HP Slate. The Android machine is expected to appear at the market at the approximate price of $170.
Huawei’s booth introduced the visitors to the world’s fastest 4G LTE smartphone. It’s called Ascend P2 and is a 4.7-inch device delivers LTE Cat 4 connection reaching download speeds as fast as 150 mbps.
Access at the MWC was all about NFC. Fira Gran Via – the Congress building was so to say NFC-friendly in terms of event information, payment services and even access to the event. Smart posters with NFC tags could be seen at every corner. The recently-appeared communication technology has now spread all over the place, not only the Mobible Congress but the city of Barcelona as well. An estimated 16 000 NFC-enabled points of sale terminals are available across the city.
