A few years back USB flash drives were a revolution. They provided а large storage capacity in very compact dimensions. So much more comfortable to carry and use than a CD. Now, 14 years after they first emerged they have changed quite a lot mostly in terms of storage capacity and shape. In comparison to the first commercial USB flash drive became available in December 2000 and has only 8MB of storage, now a 1TB flash drive is on its way to the markets. Today, Digital Magnet summarizes the variety of USB flash drives out there with the colorful pile of USB storages by GoodRAM.
The first one is called Piccolo, the name is actually the Italian word for small. Compared to common average-sized USB flash drives this one has the size of only their cap. Its exact dimensions are 20mm height by 15mm width by 7mm of depth. The weight is only 5gr. Being so tiny and lightweight this file holder can easily become a keyholder. It is a secure place to store you files as it is waterproof and shockproof to provide maximum durability. Although it is pretty tiny this memory drive offers 16GB of free storage. The USB is v2.
And from the more compact we move onto the more colorful storage solutions. Both the black-and-white and blue-and-pink memory sticks fold in an interesting way so that the USB plug-in is protected. It will be much appreciated by people like me who often lose the caps of their flash drives. Again supporting USB 2 the two dual-color flash drives are available on the market in 4, 8 and 16GB versions. The CrystalDiskMark 3 technology delivers a download speed of 14 mb/s and a write speed of 4.6mb/s.
And finally the Wilk Elektronik Good RAM Point v3.0 because hardly will anybody say no to 10 times faster data speeds. This one is offered in 8GB, 16GB and 32GB versions. During our data transfer tests this USB flash drive reached 20.3mb/s upload speed and 152.9mb/s download speed. This is one pretty comfortable and reliable way to store and carry your files as this device is water proof and shock proof.
